Job Summary
The Director of Hobby Sales is responsible for maximizing sales opportunities to meet overall company targets, managing the sales teams across our hobby and independent toy and gift channels, and ensuring a positive team environment through strong leadership and mentorship. The Director of Hobby Sales drives the team towards success through strategic management and decision making.
What will your role involve
- Provide leadership to entire business to business (“B2B”) inside sales team;
- In collaboration with Marketing, determine attendance for B2B trade shows and on materials required for each event.
- Drive and increase sales and customer counts sufficient to meet and exceed targets;
- Create business plans to increase the average spend per customer per store;
- Set clear product allocations in partnership with marketing, senior leadership and Hobby managers.
- Develop, motivate and coach Hobby Sales team on sales techniques and performance goals;
- Provide team with support on systems, policy, procedure, and product strategy;
- Oversee daily Hobby Sales activity, evaluate performance; and provide Key Performance Metrics;
- Meet financial objectives by estimating requirements and managing budget;
- Continue to build and structure a team sufficient to meet business objectives;
- Improve and implement sales/business processes; both internal and external:
- In collaboration with Marketing, set a regular schedule of promotions and activations to ensure successful product launches and manage stock flow;
- Work with cross functional teams to outline your team’s business processes and address where improvements are needed;
- Provide consistent sales forecasts, launch plans and sell through data;
- Ensures weekly, monthly and quarterly forecasts and shipments align with company expectations;
- Identify distribution growth opportunities based on market needs and potential;
- Any other tasks requested by management.

- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and departments, ensuring alignment and seamless execution of sales objectives.
- A strong ability to create accountability, empowering teams to meet and exceed performance expectations, while taking ownership of outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of sales training techniques;
- Consistent track record of meeting and surpassing financial targets, with a strong focus on driving revenue growth and maximizing profitability through strategic sales management.
- Demonstrated ability to remain positive, composed, and effective in high-pressure situations, adapting quickly to challenges while maintaining focus on long-term goals.
- Ability and expertise in leading large, diverse teams with varying levels of experience and skill, fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and high performance.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with the ability to leverage these tools to streamline operations, present compelling reports, and analyze sales data.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field;
- Five to ten years sales management experience with a significant portion related to inside or call center sales; and
- At least ten years of retail sales experience. Hobby channel experience and knowledge required.
