Job Summary

The Organized Play Store Specialist is responsible for overseeing the growth and the successful execution of Star Wars Unlimited (SWU) Organized Play events, trade show appearances, and tournament management services worldwide with a very strong emphasis on the grassroot activities in LGS (Local Game Stores). This role requires collaboration with Distribution Units (DUs), third-party partners, and stores to ensure that all major events and programs are delivered effectively.

 

What will your role involve

  • In collaboration with the OP Team, develop a data-driven and experience-driven strategy to grow the OP Program for SWU in LGS worldwide.
  • Ensure the execution of all grassroot activities at LGS level as strategized, with the rest of the OP team and the DUs.
  • Contribute with the rest of the OP Team to the successful execution of all major Star Wars Unlimited Organized Play events, including sector qualifiers, regional qualifiers, and the galactic championship, in collaboration with DUs and third-party partners.
  • Collaborate with Melee.gg staff to ensure high-quality digital tournament management services for players and retailers.
  • Identify flaws and areas for improvement in the OP Program through personal observations, stakeholder feedback and retailer sentiment.
  • Work with the OP team to make continuous improvements to the program.
  • This position requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally, with sometimes up to 30% of time spent traveling in a month.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Skills & Qualifications

  • Visionary or strategic mindset.
  • Proven experience in organized play (OP), especially as a Tournament Organizer using digital tools for tournament management.
  • Experience in project management for large-scale OP events or trade shows.
  • Strong Familiarity with Star Wars Unlimited as a player or judge.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively across various teams and partners.
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends during shows. 
  • Solid logistics expertise, particularly in OP events and in-store play.
  • Ability to propose strategic improvements based on leadership vision and feedback.

 

Experience/Education 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in managing organized play (OP) events and programs in Local Game Stores.
  • Strong Familiarity with Star Wars Unlimited (SWU) and community gaming events.
  • Experience with logistics and event coordination preferred.
