Job Summary
A varied accounting role, supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for several varied business units. This is a hands-on role, enabling the jobholder to get involved with many aspects of accounting and forecasting.
What does this role Involve
• Supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for one or more business units
• Ensuring all reporting is value-adding, of a high quality, accurate, and produced to agreed timescales.
• General ledger postings to SAP ensuring allocation to correct GL codes, cost centres and projects
• Ensuring income and costs are accounted for in the correct accounting period, including identifying prepayments and accruals.
• Preparing reconciliations of general ledger and intercompany accounts, proactively identifying and resolving accounting issues, following up exceptions and ensuring accurate and up to date SAP ledgers.
• Conducting expenditure analysis and control, including supporting Management Accountants with feedback to cost centre managers, as required.
• Supporting cash and treasury reporting to Group
• Assisting with and developing improvements to process efficiency, proactively automating activities.
• Gaining an understanding of main profit drivers in each business
• Preparing VAT returns
• Preparing corporations tax analysis for external advisors
• Supporting external and internal audit processes
• Ad hoc other projects as required
What are we looking for
• Part Qualified Accountant
• Positive “can do” attitude and hunger for knowledge/experience
• Ability to work though new accounting scenarios referring back to first principles of double entry
• Strong reconciliation skills
• Strong excel, data manipulation and reporting skills
• Good communication (both oral and written)
• Able to juggle tasks and priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to be proactive and use initiative
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good time management and organisational skills - ensuring deadlines are met and to the required standard
• Applies an analytical approach to problem solving
The potential for the opportunity for development into a Management Accountant role on gaining appropriate experience and full Accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
