Job Summary
The Board Game Specialist will take a junior leadership role within the Hobby and Independent Sales Team, focusing on driving board game sales and managing accounts that are primarily board game sellers. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this role will champion the growth of published titles and strategic board game distribution, help shape sales strategies and serve as the subject-matter expert for board game accounts.
The role combines in-depth account management, proactive sales strategies, and a structured approach to expanding the footprint of board games within the hobby and independent retail market.
What does this role Involve
• Account Management
• Proactively manage a portfolio of key accounts, developing strong relationships and ensuring the highest level of satisfaction
• Focus on accounts primarily selling board games, tailoring product recommendations and strategies to fit their needs
• Continuous improvement on customer engagement and communication
• Board Game Sales Growth
• Promote published board game titles and other products, ensuring optimal placement, visibility, and sales performance within accounts
• Actively seek upselling and cross-selling opportunities with existing accounts to expand product adoption
• Strategic Sales Planning
• Contribute to sales forecasts and planning efforts for board games, ensuring targets are aligned with account potential and market growth opportunities
• Collaborate with the Marketing Team to implement promotional strategies, seasonal campaigns, and customer education programmes to boost sales
• Operational Excellence
• Manage the order-to-delivery process seamlessly, ensuring timely and accurate fulfilment of customer orders
• Monitor stock availability and work closely with logistics to avoid disruptions or shortages
• New Business Development
• Identify and engage with potential new customers in the hobby and independent retail market who are focused on board games
• Work to onboard new accounts smoothly, setting them up for success with tailored sales strategies
• Market and Product Expertise
• Stay updated on board game market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities
• Act as a knowledgeable resource for internal teams and customers regarding board game products and sales strategies
• Performance Analysis and Reporting
• Monitor account performance against KPIs and sales targets, flagging areas for improvement and providing solutions
• Provide regular updates and analyses to the Hobby and Independent Sales Team leader and other stakeholders
What are we looking for
Essential Skills
• Customer focused
• Always exhibits the correct behaviours as well as delivering the required results
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a customer-focused mindset
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and make informed recommendations
• Proficiency with CRM and sales software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
• Proven experience in sales and account management, preferably in board games, tabletop, or hobby industry
• Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of key accounts and deliver consistent revenue growth
• In-depth knowledge of the board game market, including consumer trends and key products
Desirable Skills
• Understanding of marketing strategies and campaign planning, particularly in product promotions
• Familiarity with supply chain processes and the operational side of account management
• Interest in gaming
• Previous experience working with hobby retailers or independent stores
