Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Global VP of RTM Strategy and Hobby Sales, the Head of Hobby Retail Strategy & Engagement is a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for shaping and scaling Asmodee’s engagement with the Hobby retail channel. This role partners with the team managing the Hobby Specialist function across our DUs and ensures alignment across Purchasing, Commercial Marketing, and Sales. The Head of will collaborate with key programs, including Hobby Next and Organized Play (OP), and ensure consistent communication and strong relationships with independent Hobby retailers across the globe. They will lead cross-functional initiatives that elevate customer experience, strengthen brand presence, and increase product demand through the Hobby channel.


This role is remote and can be based out of any country with an Asmodee office.

What does this role Involve

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Help craft the vision and strategic direction for the Hobby retail channel and related programs.
    • Translate organizational goals into actionable initiatives across the Hobby Specialist team.

 

  • Team Oversight & Development
    • Coach and develop a team of Hobby Specialists across Asmodee’s DUs.
    • Establish KPIs and ensure team accountability and performance.

 

  • Retail Program Management
    • Oversee the execution and growth of key programs, including Hobby Next and OP (Organized Play).
    • Partner with Commercial Marketing to design, implement, and communicate targeted campaigns that enhance retail partner engagement.

 

  • Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Purchasing, Product, and Marketing to align go-to-market strategies with retailer needs.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive product awareness and optimize new product launches through the Hobby channel.

 

  • Retailer Communication & Engagement
    • Ensure consistent, timely, and impactful communication to independent Hobby retailers via newsletters, presentations, and outreach.
    • Deliver presentations and facilitate discussions on key new releases and category initiatives.

 

  • Market Intelligence & Reporting
    • Analyze retail feedback and market data to provide insights to senior leadership.
    • Deliver monthly reports summarizing key performance metrics, retailer sentiment, and program results.

What are we looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
    and / or
  • 7+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or customer engagement, with at least 4+ years in the Hobby retail or tabletop gaming industry.

  • Strategic Leadership – Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic plans within sales, marketing, or customer engagement functions.
  • Communication Skills – Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, including experience presenting to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Relationship Management – Proven ability to build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Analytical Thinking – Proficiency in interpreting business data, market trends, and KPIs to inform decisions and strategy; experience with tools like Power BI is a plus.
  • Project Management – Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Team Development – Demonstrated ability to lead and grow high-performing teams, including coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Gaming Industry Knowledge – Deep understanding of the Hobby market, including trading card games, tabletop board games, and miniatures.
  • Customer Focus – Strong commitment to delivering value to retailers and understanding their unique needs within the Hobby channel.
  • Creative Thinking – Ability to foster innovation, drive new ideas, and adapt to a fast-paced, ever-evolving market.
