Job Summary
You are responsible for first and second-line IT support via the Service Desk system, and you will maintain and enhance the IT network and infrastructure, hardware, systems and applications.
What does this role Involve
Key Accountabilities
- Provision of helpful and responsive first- and second-line IT support to employees
- Ensuring that all routine system and network maintenance tasks are completed to ensure maximum up time and availability of IT systems
- Support and mentoring of Junior members of the IT Team (apprentices)
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring the internal Service Desk system as first and second line support, responding to Service Desk tickets and requests
- Engaging with the user community to analyse and resolve tickets to provide timely updates and resolutions
- To escalate to third line resolver group for complex issues
- To take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
- Build, configure, and deploy desktops/laptops for new and existing users
- Maintain the IT asset register, ensuring accurate records of all hardware and software
- Monitor and assist IT procurement of IT consumables and hardware
- Contribute to internal IT projects and wider team initiatives
- Creating and updating ‘how to guides’ and the online user knowledge area
- Train new employees on our systems, face-to-face and online
- From time to time perform out of hours work
What are we looking for
- IT degree or completion of an IT College course
- Experience providing IT support in a professional environment
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications (Windows 10/11)
- Confidence working with hardware (laptops/desktops) and provisioning devices
- Experience with IT ticketing systems and asset management (experience with Fresh Service beneficial)
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-first approach
- Exposure to IT good practice standards (e.g., ITIL)
- A willingness to learn, develop, and embrace new technologies
