Job Summary

The Community & Live Communications Lead will serve as the American “face” of our crowdfunding unit. This visible and engaging role, will represent our brand across livestreams, campaign videos, conventions, Q&A sessions, and creator updates, serving as the primary connection point between our passionate community and our team. 

This role's core mission is to communicate authentically, build trust, and inspire backers, ensuring they feel informed, included, and excited every step of the way. From hosting live events to managing community discussions on platforms like Discord and Reddit, this role will connect with board game enthusiasts and crowdfunding supporters on a deeply personal level. What will your role involve

Be the Public Face of the Crowdfunding Unit 

  • Live Engagements: Host campaign livestreams, Q&A sessions, and product showcases on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and Gamefound/Kickstarter live. 
  • On-Camera Presence: Record campaign introduction videos, product walkthroughs, and update videos that excite current and potential backers. 
  • Convention Representation: Attend conventions and public events, demonstrating products, answering questions, and networking with the community. 
  • Crisis Communication: Act as the brand voice during challenging moments by delivering clear, transparent, and empathetic communications that resolve issues respectfully. 

Community Management & Engagement 

  • Community Development: Cultivate meaningful relationships with crowdfunding backers, customers, and influencers via Discord, Reddit, BoardGameGeek (BGG), and other hobbyist spaces. 
  • Cultural Authenticity: Leverage your deep understanding of board game and crowdfunding community culture to foster an authentic and empowering tone in all communications. 
  • Content Moderation: Oversee discussions across platforms to maintain a respectful and engaging space, responding promptly to questions, concerns, and feedback. 

Storytelling & Campaign Communications 

  • Compelling Messaging: Create emotionally resonant narratives that transform product features into impactful stories, connecting with backers on an emotional level. 
  • Update Management: Write and coordinate creator updates that are accurate, transparent, and in line with campaign goals. 
  • Maintaining Product Relevance: Devise strategies to keep existing products relevant during non-launch periods and identify ways to introduce them to new players and communities. 
  • Collaborative Campaign Planning: Work with Product Line Managers and Producers to plan and execute crowdfunding launches, pre-orders, or retail-focused product strategies. 
  • Marketing Pushes for Retail Products: Develop creative marketing campaigns to boost awareness and sales for our product lines between crowdfunding campaigns. Collaborate with teams to carry out these initiatives seamlessly. 

Collaborate with Marketing & Strategy Teams 

  • Performance Marketing Coordination: Support and advise the Performance & Digital Marketing Specialist on strategies for product launches, ensuring consistent and effective marketing efforts across channels. 
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with creative, design, and logistics teams to ensure all communications—whether for crowdfunding, pre-orders, or retail launches—are aligned with current timelines and goals. 

Technical Savvy  

  • Video Editing: Occasionally assist with basic on-camera editing to prepare assets quickly for live or recorded use. 
  • OBS/Streaming Proficiency: Have knowledge of streaming tools like OBS or other production tools for hosting polished livestreams.

  • Charismatic Speaker: Native-level American English fluency with a strong, confident, and friendly on-camera presence.
  • Storytelling Expertise: Exceptional copywriting and storytelling skills that transform features into narratives that resonate emotionally with audiences.
  • Community Manager Under Pressure: Proven experience managing community dynamics, especially during high-stakes or stressful situations.
  • Marketing Creativity: Ability to conceptualize and implement effective marketing pushes for retail product lines, while sustaining energy across the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborative Thinker: Thrives in a cross-functional team environment, keeping everyone aligned for accurate and timely updates.
  • Event Representation: Comfortable engaging with backers and players face-to-face at conventions and in interactive online spaces.

 

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a similar position and/or in the crowdfunding space.
  • Crowdfunding Expertise: Deep immersion in Kickstarter, Gamefound, Discord, Reddit, and BGG culture with an ability to adopt the community’s tone authentically.
  • Tech-Savvy Optional Skills: Knowledge of OBS, livestream production, or light video editing is a strong bonus.

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, market conditions and specific work location. Base Salary Range: $115,000-$130,000.
