Résumé du poste
Board Game Arena is an online board gaming platform used by millions of players around the world. Players can access hundreds of board games directly from their browser.
The Infrastructure team is responsible for keeping the platform reliable, responsive and available while supporting its growth.
The role :
This is a fully remote position.
You will join the Infrastructure team and work closely with the Lead Ops Engineer.
You will improve existing systems, design new services and take changes from investigation to production.
Missions
Your responsibilities may include :
• Maintaining and improving Board Game Arena’s infrastructure.
• Designing, deploying and operating production services.
• Automating repetitive tasks and improving deployment workflows.
• Migrating selected services from bare metal to Kubernetes.
• Improving deployment safety, rollback procedures and observability.
• Investigating production incidents and preventing recurrence.
• Diagnosing performance bottlenecks across infrastructure and MySQL.
• Identifying technical weaknesses and proposing improvements.
Technical environment :
Our infrastructure currently includes:
• Linux
• Bare metal servers
• Kubernetes
• GitLab
• Terraform
• Ansible
• Grafana Mimir
• MySQL
The platform runs on a combination of established bare metal infrastructure and a self-managed Kubernetes cluster. We are progressively moving selected services to Kubernetes without compromising production stability.
We are not committed to a specific cloud provider or ecosystem. We select tools based on our needs, reliability and ease of maintenance.
How we work :
We prefer practical engineering decisions over adopting technology for its own sake.
New approaches are tested in isolated environments, either locally or on low-cost test servers, before they are considered for production.
Infrastructure decisions are made within the team. When you identify an improvement, you will investigate it, evaluate the trade-offs and help implement it.
You will be encouraged to question existing solutions when you have a clear technical reason to do so.
Profil
Who we are looking for ?
You should be :
• Curious about how systems behave and fail.
• Able to investigate technical problems methodically.
• Willing to read documentation, test assumptions and learn new tools.
• Pragmatic when choosing between possible solutions.
• Comfortable explaining and defending technical decisions.
• Comfortable collaborating with a distributed team in a fully remote environment.
A strong Linux foundation is required.
Experience with every technology in our stack is not required. We care more about your ability to understand systems and build reliable solutions.
