Job Summary
The Game Developer focuses on creating and refining content for new and existing card game products, ensuring games are fun, balanced, and engaging, with a focus on competitive play. The Game Developer works closely on improving and expanding game lines, leading playtesting, gathering player feedback, and collaborating with the Organized Play team to shape competitive events and structures.
What will your role involve
- Refine product vision, systems, rules, and content for competitive play in new and existing game lines.
- Ensure final game products are fun, inclusive, aligned with the intellectual property involved, and within the scope of the vision and budget of the product.
- Ensure final game products are fair, competitively engaging, and strategically balanced.
- Manage the status and progress of all active, assigned projects to meet deadlines.
- Communicate and deliver project needs to multiple teams across the studio and publisher.
- Lead internal and external playtesting by providing all necessary test components, answering questions, collecting feedback, and analyzing it to improve the balance and usability of the game’s design, rules, and content.
- Provide documentation to other creative departments (Art, Graphic Design, Sculpting, etc.) using defined document specifications to detail what elements are required to support the game design and content.
- Collaborate with the Organized Play team to create tournament structures, prizes, and other community event support.
- Maintain community awareness and engage with the competitive scene to monitor trends, shifts, and product lifecycle concerns.
- Develop and maintain FAQs, errata, and tournament rules for active game lines.
- Create final, print-ready game product layouts using Adobe InDesign.
- All other assignments as required by management.

Position Skills & Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong creative and analytical skills (with a focus on competitive gameplay mechanics)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- A strong understanding of hobby market trends and recent innovations.
- Ability to self-organize and multitask.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently on projects.
- Detail oriented and dedicated to making great games.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and individuals.
Education/Experience
- Minimum of one year experience in mathematics, game design, or related experience.
- Minimum of one year experience competing in a competitive card game.

Actual compensation for this role is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, market conditions and specific work location. Base Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000.
